Meet Caryl
My family's roots run deep here. My parents originally farmed this land, as hay fields or pasture for the dairy cows.
My husband Gary and I had been gardening together for 40+ years. Our daughter had serious health challenges and needed access to good, nutritious food. Growing our own food fit into our life. For years we planted excess to give to families in need and with low income (“blessing boxes,” as we call them). When Gary lost his job in his early 50s, our circle of friends urged us to start selling produce. This is how our journey started.
My husband Gary and I brought our own dreams to life. We officially started BrynTeg Farm LLC in 2009. Farmer Gary used to say that that he worked harder in “retirement” than he ever did before, but he loved the farm and the land. And I had desired for many years to teach the next generation to appreciate and enjoy good food.
I was a Master Gardener in Dodge County with the Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association from 2018-2022. This complemented my interest in continued learning and teaching.
In January 2022, my life of working together with my husband came to an end. My Gary passed away. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” I miss him greatly, but I know I will one day see him again because Jesus was his Savior.
New beginnings immediately started for me. My daughter, Tara, joined me in running the farm, and my other daughter in Australia, Bretta, joined us, at a distance, with her art contribution.
