Our Orchard

BrynTeg Farm Apple Orchard
In the heart of an apple orchard, time slows, and the world feels whole under a canopy of fruit-laden branches.

Our orchard has a unique landscape: The apple trees grace the sides of one very large hill. Back in 1995, we planted our first apple trees. These first varieties included EarliGold, Cortland, Empire, IdaRed, McIntosh, Red Delicious, and Red Rome.  Bill Aeppler, of Oconomowoc’s iconic (but now closed) Aeppler Orchard, guided us with the initial tree selection and layout.

When you visit our farm and orchard, you’ll step out of your car to gaze at the surroundings. Your eyes will capture the rolling layout. You’ll discover a simplistic beauty and a place of quietness. Our farm’s logo with an apple tree on a hill seeks to capture this view and feeling.

Our next block of trees was planted in 2006, which included HoneyCrisp and more IdaRed. In 2015 another set of trees were planted, including more HoneyCrisp, KinderKrisp, Macoun, Snow Apple, Wealthy (There is a story here!), Wolf River, and Zestar. In 2024, we added Northwest Greening. In 2025, we added Golden Delicious and Pink Lady.

Oh, and dare we forget to mention, Farmer Gary would randomly purchase a HoneyCrisp tree at various times and plant it. But somehow some Fuji made their way to the orchard. Please ask us about how we discovered some of the “HoneyCrisp” trees were actually of the Fuji variety.

In Winter/Spring of 2022, Tara took over the care of the orchard after her father Farmer Gary passed away in January 2022. Tara is learning to be an orchardist. Together, Tara and Farmer Caryl are running the farm and orchard.

We are making plans to add more trees each season. It is a phase of new beginnings. We desire to supply good fruit to our surrounding community for years to come. Our orchard currently includes apple, cherry, and peach trees.

An orchard in September is a treasure trove, where every apple holds the warmth of summer and the promise of pie.
