Our Farm. Our Roots.

Dear Farm Friends,

This week I thought I would share a little about our farm and our roots.

In 1978 Gary and I bought our farmland from my parents when they experienced financial and medical struggles. It was a piece of their working farm. Even after we bought the land, my dad continued to farm the fields and pasture the cattle there.

When I was younger, my sister and I would walk down from the main farm to this land to get the cows for milking. This farmland holds a special spot in our hearts. It was where I grew up. It was our family farm for over fifty years, and it is where I learned the demands of farming.

About 18 years ago, Gary had a job change, and he left the construction industry. We started produce hobby farming, but it quickly turned into more than that. In 2009, BrynTeg Farm became an official produce-market farm. Gary laughs when he tells folks that “retirement” farming requires him to work harder and longer hours now compared to his, old “real” job.

BrynTeg Farm means beautiful hill in Welsh, a reminder of our Celtic roots. Our farmland has hills and slopes, along with a creek running along the lower land. It is beautiful.
